Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and professional healthcare professional to serve as a Patient Access & Billing Coordinator at our ambulatory surgery center. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in medical reception, revenue cycle management, patient care coordination, or as a patient access representative. You will be the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while managing patient check-in and check-out processes, verifying insurance benefits, and assisting with billing inquiries. Your efforts will help facilitate smooth patient flow and support the administrative functions of our outpatient surgical facility. Revenue Cycle Management, Para-Accountant, Para-Legal experience a plus.
Responsibilities:
Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service while safeguarding Protected Health Information (PHI) Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, including collecting co-pays and outstanding balances discreetly Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and obtain authorizations using payer portals and available tools Enter and update patient demographic and insurance information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system Assist with scheduling surgeries, pre-op appointments, and follow-up visits in coordination with clinical staff Answer multi-line phone systems, respond to inquiries professionally, and route calls appropriately; verify caller identity before discussing PHI Prepare and maintain patient charts and documentation for daily procedures Collect and process necessary forms, consents, and paperwork while updating electronic records accordingly Address billing questions and collaborate with the billing department as needed Maintain a clean, organized front desk area to promote a welcoming environment Monitor patient flow to minimize wait times and ensure timely procedures Balance daily cash collections securely until deposit Reconcile medical supply orders and communicate discrepancies promptly Order office supplies upon approval from management Manage incoming faxes and mail, distributing them to appropriate staff members Track and process incoming correspondence related to patient accounts
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred Minimum 2-3 years of experience in an ambulatory surgery center, medical office, or healthcare setting; ASC or surgical center experience strongly preferred Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to patient privacy Knowledge of medical terminology Proficient with EHR/EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with payer portals for authorizations/eligibility is essential Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Professional appearance and demeanor Reliable, punctual, able to work Monday-Friday daytime hours; occasional early mornings or evenings may be required; one Saturday per month preferred Current BLS certification or willingness to obtain Ability to sign confidentiality agreements and HIPAA acknowledgment upon hire Join us in delivering outstanding patient care by ensuring efficient office operations and creating a welcoming environment. Pay:
$30.00 - $32.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
