Behavioral Health Patient Coordinator Location:
Chula Vista, CA Full-Time Spanish Required We are seeking an experienced, highly organized Bilingual Medical Assistant / Behavioral Health Patient Coordinator for our outpatient behavioral health clinic in Chula Vista. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required for this position. Our clinic provides behavioral and mental health services through a multidisciplinary team that includes: Psychiatrists Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners Therapists Psychologists and other behavioral health providers We are looking for someone who can do much more than traditional Medical Assistant duties. This person will play a central role in coordinating patients, providers, schedules, intake, communication, and the daily operation of the clinic. Primary Responsibilities The Medical Assistant / Patient Coordinator will be responsible for: Answering incoming patient calls and messages in English and Spanish Scheduling new and established patients Managing and organizing multiple provider schedules Scheduling patients with the appropriate psychiatrist, psychiatric NP, therapist, or other provider Completing new-patient intake Collecting demographics, insurance information, medication history, pharmacy information, and other required information Assisting patients with intake forms and questionnaires Checking patients in and out Confirming appointments Following up with patients who miss or cancel appointments Scheduling follow-up appointments according to provider instructions Helping maintain full and efficient provider schedules Communicating with psychiatrists, psychiatric NPs, therapists, and other providers Coordinating referrals and authorizations Assisting with insurance eligibility verification Routing prescription and refill requests to the appropriate clinical provider Uploading and organizing patient documents in the EHR Maintaining accurate patient records Assisting providers with daily administrative and clinical workflow Communicating with pharmacies, medical offices, insurance plans, and other healthcare organizations as needed Providing Spanish language assistance to patients within the employee's qualifications and clinic policies Maintaining strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance Helping resolve day-to-day patient and clinic issues Spanish Is Required The candidate must be able to speak English and Spanish fluently. The position requires frequent communication with Spanish-speaking patients, including: Telephone calls Appointment scheduling New-patient intake Explaining clinic procedures Appointment reminders and follow-up Helping patients understand forms and administrative requirements Communicating patient needs to the appropriate provider The candidate should be comfortable communicating professionally about sensitive behavioral health matters in both English and Spanish. Experience We Prefer Behavioral health or psychiatry experience is strongly preferred. We especially value candidates with experience in: Psychiatry Behavioral health Mental health clinics Primary care or specialty medical offices Medical assisting Patient coordination Medical scheduling Referral coordination Insurance eligibility and authorizations EHR systems Experience working directly with psychiatrists, psychiatric NPs, therapists, and psychologists is a major plus. Scheduling Skills Are Very Important This position requires someone who can learn and understand the different types of behavioral health appointments. The candidate should be able to appropriately coordinate: New psychiatric evaluations Medication-management follow-ups Therapy appointments Psychology appointments Follow-up visits Urgent patient messages Prescription/refill requests Provider-specific scheduling requirements We need someone who can keep multiple providers' schedules organized, minimize unused appointment time, and help patients get scheduled with the appropriate provider. We are looking for someone who can help keep the entire clinic organized and provide excellent support to both our patients and our behavioral health providers.
Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour
