Hospitality Lead Full-Time Hourly Position Summary The hospitality lead is the hospitality leader on the restaurant floor. This is a hands-on, guest-facing leadership position responsible for delivering exceptional hospitality while coaching and supporting the hospitality lead in real time. The hospitality leads by example through active service, floor presence, coaching, and operational excellence. At Deli Nerds, we believe leadership happens alongside the team. The hospitality lead spends the majority of each shift interacting with guests, supporting team members, ensuring service standards are consistently executed, and creating memorable experiences that keep guests coming back. This is a full-time hourly, non-exempt position that participates in the Deli Nerds tip pool in accordance with California law. The hospitality lead does not hire, terminate, discipline, schedule employees, or make employment decisions. Those responsibilities remain with Restaurant Management. Primary ResponsibilityLead Hospitality on the Restaurant Floor Approximately 75-85% of the position is spent actively working alongside the hospitality lead serving guests. The hospitality lead is expected to lead through action by consistently modeling Deli Nerds' hospitality standards while coaching team members throughout each shift.
Responsibilities include:
Lead the Guest Experience Welcome every guest with warmth and enthusiasm. Maintain visible floor presence throughout the shift. Ensure guests are acknowledged within five seconds. Create memorable guest interactions. Build relationships with regular guests. Welcome first-time guests. Assist with difficult guest situations through hospitality and service recovery. Ensure every guest leaves feeling appreciated. Coach the Steps of Service Observe and coach team members on execution of the complete Deli Nerds Service Formula including: The Welcome Building the Order Suggestive Selling Personalizing the Experience Order Accuracy Final Upsell Opportunities Loyalty Program Enrollment Food Delivery Hospitality Two-Bite/Two-Minute Check Back Farewell & Invitation to Return Coaching occurs in real time through encouragement, demonstration, and positive feedback. Train New Team Members Assist Restaurant Management with: Onboarding new FOH employees Hands-on training Menu knowledge Hospitality standards POS proficiency Beverage preparation Service standards Ongoing coaching and development Maintain Service Standards Ensure consistent execution of: Food quality standards Beverage quality standards Restaurant cleanliness Organization Guest interactions Dining room appearance Music standards Hospitality expectations Brand presentation Support Restaurant Operations Actively participate in daily operations including: Cashier Expo Runner Third-party delivery handoff Catering order assembly and verification Mobile order pickup Beverage preparation Coffee service Table touches Dining room maintenance Guest issue resolution The hospitality lead fills operational gaps wherever needed to ensure an exceptional guest experience. Secondary ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership In addition to guest service leadership, the hospitality lead assists with daily operational responsibilities including: Inventory Maintain inventory of: Soft drinks Tractor beverages Coffee products Pastries Beer Wine Cocktail ingredients Mixers Chips Snacks Condiments Front-of-house supplies Conduct inventory counts as scheduled and communicate inventory needs proactively. Paper Products & Smallwares Maintain inventory of: Cups Lids Napkins Utensils Catering supplies To-go containers Portion cups Labels Bags Paper products Cleaning supplies Other front-of-house smallwares Ordering Responsibilities Place approved vendor orders as assigned.

IFS Paper products Smallwares LA Distributing Beverages Beer Sunset Distributing Beer Beverage products US Foods Chips Snacks Tractor beverages Approved FOH inventory Collaborate with BOH leadership regarding bread ordering. When BOH management is unavailable, place food orders using established ordering guides and training procedures (typically up to two times per week).
Cash Handling Responsible for:
Weekly cash counts Cash accountability Safe handling procedures Accurate documentation Reporting discrepancies immediately Catering Support Coordinate hospitality lead execution for catering orders including: Order verification Packaging Labeling Quality checks Driver coordination Guest communication Timely order completion Restaurant Readiness Ensure hospitality lead is continuously guest ready by maintaining: Clean dining room Organized beverage station Stocked condiment station Restrooms Patio presentation Music standards Merchandising displays Retail products Front counter organization Leadership Expectations The hospitality leadLead is expected to: Lead by example. Maintain a calm, professional demeanor during busy periods. Demonstrate positive teamwork. Coach respectfully and professionally. Support fellow team members. Promote a positive work environment. Model Deli Nerds values every shift. Communicate effectively with BOH and Management. Escalate operational or personnel concerns to Restaurant Management when appropriate. Position Does Not Include The hospitality lead is not responsible for: Hiring employees Employee termination Employee discipline Performance evaluations Payroll Setting compensation Approving timecards Creating company policies Final employment decisions Those responsibilities remain with Restaurant Management. Certifications Food Handler Card (required) Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification (required for alcohol service) Physical Requirements Ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods Lift up to 40 pounds Bend, reach, squat, and climb as needed Work in varying kitchen and dining room temperatures Operate POS systems and restaurant equipment safely
Pay:
$23.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 40.0 per week
