You'll set the tone for how your team works, how students experience the program, how families are welcomed, and how effectively the program operates. That means being visible. Being organized. You'll:
Lead and supervise a team of program staff Set clear expectations for performance and accountability Coach team members through regular observations and feedback Recognize strengths while addressing performance gaps Onboard and train new employees Build a team culture where people communicate, collaborate, and continue improving Deliver a Great Program You'll turn plans into a strong daily experience for students by: Managing the day-to-day operation of your school site Creating effective schedules, staff assignments, and program routines Maintaining safe, organized, and welcoming environments Ensuring activities are engaging and developmentally appropriate Supporting staff with student engagement and behavior management Responding quickly when unexpected challenges arise Make Quality Measurable Strong leadership requires more than instinct. You'll use observations, assessments, attendance information, and other program data to understand what's working—and what needs attention.
You'll:
Conduct regular program and staff observations Review attendance and other program data Identify trends and areas for improvement Develop strategies to strengthen program quality Follow through to make sure improvements actually happen Build the Partnerships Behind the Program You'll serve as one of the primary YMCA leaders at your school site, developing strong working relationships with: School administrators and teachers Students and families Community organizations and program providers YMCA leaders and support teams You'll communicate proactively, follow through on commitments, and represent the Y with professionalism. Own the Operation Leadership also means making sure the details get done. You'll help manage: Site budgets and program resources Attendance and program documentation Staff schedules and coverage Supplies and operational needs Special events and program initiatives Other projects that help your site and YMCA Expanded Learning succeed What You Need to QualifyRequired Qualifications At least 2 years of experience working in youth development At least 1 year of staff supervision or program management experience 48 college units OR a passing score on the Instructional Aide Exam Reliable transportation and ability to travel to program sites and meetings Ability to successfully clear DOJ/FBI background checks CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certification within 30 days of hire; training is provided The Leaders Who Succeed Here...
