Job Description

Surgery Coordinator The Surgery Coordinator must be capable of managing the entire continuum of surgery scheduling in an efficient and organized manner. In this role, the individual should be knowledgeable in medical procedures and terminology and have a working knowledge of revenue cycle management. Primary duties include scheduling surgeries, verifying insurance eligibility and benefits for patients' coverage, confirming/obtaining authorization for surgery, and calculating the patient financial responsibility according to the patient's individual plan. In addition, this person will contact patients to convey their financial responsibility for the surgery. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

▪ Retains knowledge and understanding of risk holder for facility and ensures claims destination is accurately captured.

▪ Calls adjusters to verify authorizations and billing address when necessary

▪ Verifies accurate CPT coding prior to authorization submission

▪ Follow up to ensure all surgeries are authorized prior to DOS

▪ Re-verify benefits and ensure information is accurately captured for proper billing

▪ Observes cost containment practices with effective utilization of time and materials

▪ Attends meetings as requested

▪ Maintains current and compliant with standards of performance and education

▪ Follows medical/legal policies governing the ASC

▪ Practices discretion and patient confidentiality, including HIPAA

▪ Can maintain composure and handle fast-paced environment.

▪ Always maintains a professional attitude

▪ Promotes a courteous atmosphere demonstrating diplomacy with personal interactions

▪ Maintains a clean, safe and organized environment Qualifications

▪ High School graduate or equivalent

▪ Minimum of one year experience in a medical office setting

▪ Knowledge of medical terminology

▪ Basic computer skills required

▪ Professional writing and communication skills

▪ Bilingual; English/Spanish is a plus

$23.00 - $26.00 per hour
