Patient Access Coordinator-Level 3-Shafter The Radiology Patient Access Coordinator Level 3 is responsible for accurate real-time patient registration and resolves in-person access issues, including walk-in variability. The ideal candidate is confident working independently, thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and delivers exceptional service while maintaining accuracy in high-impact environment. Core Responsibilities
- Complete full patient registration at the front desk
- Independently schedule radiology exams across modalities in accordance with protocol
- Run eligibility and benefits verification for designated insurance plans
- Resolve basic eligibility, coverage, and demographic discrepancies in real time
- Manage walk-in patients and same-day scheduling exceptions
- Provide immediate service recovery to prevent exam delays or cancellations
- Maintain accuracy while balancing interruptions and fluctuating patient volume
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations Required Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of EMR/RIS registration workflows
- Knowledge of radiology scheduling logic and modality requirements
- Proven ability to deliver high-level customer service under interruption pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment in a fast-paced settings
- High attention to detail with a focus on billing and documentation accuracy
- Ability to distinguish between authorization-required and non-authorization-required exams
- Strong understanding of insurance benefits
- Proficient knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Eligibility verification and authorization experience required
- Strong communication, organizational and customer service skills Qualifications & Expectations
- 1-5 years of Radiology specific experience preferred
- Ability to communicate professionally with patients, providers, and staff
- Reliable transportation; willingness to commute to outside facilities as needed (mileage reimbursed)
- Ability to work varying shifts between 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday with the occasional Saturday
- Bilingual a plus Ability to work independently while collaborating with clinical and administrative teams
