Veterans Patient Access Coordinator Primary Purpose The Veterans Patient Access Coordinator supports timely access to healthcare services for veterans by coordinating appointments, registration, insurance verification, referrals, authorizations, and patient flow. Provides professional, compassionate customer service and serves as a liaison between veterans, healthcare providers, and administrative staff. Essential Duties Schedule and coordinate patient appointments and provider schedules. Complete patient registration, insurance verification, referrals, and authorizations. Maintain accurate patient, insurance, billing, and medical record information. Assist veterans with healthcare access, appointments, and required documentation. Collect payments and explain patient financial responsibilities. Monitor patient flow and resolve scheduling or access issues. Respond to patient questions and concerns professionally. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and institutional policies. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word. Demonstrated experience using Excel and VLOOKUP for data management and verification. Strong communication, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to accurately enter and verify information and maintain confidentiality. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Required Education High School Diploma or equivalent. Required Experience High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of related experience in healthcare, patient access, medical office administration, customer service, scheduling, insurance verification, or a related field; including Excel and VLOOKUP experience. OR Associate's degree and one (1) year of related experience, including Excel and VLOOKUP experience. Preferred Qualifications Healthcare, dental, hospital, or academic clinical experience. Experience working with veterans. Experience with EMR/EHR, insurance verification, referrals, authorizations, or billing. Bilingual in Spanish/English or Creole/English preferred.
