Emp Status Regular Full time Work Shift Day (United States of America) Compensation Range What you will be doing Triages phone calls and patient inquiries, in a professional and efficient manner. Retrieves messages frequently from voicemail (and EMR system where applicable) and returns messages by the end of business day. Schedules appointments (new visits, follow-ups, and post-ops). Confirms patient appointments via email and/or telephone. Where applicable, schedules surgeries and other ancillary tests as directed by physician or office manager. When surgical date is identified, it should be appropriately placed in calendar and scheduled in EPIC promptly. All surgeries should be authorized 1 month before surgery excluding urgent add-on cases which must be authorized accordingly. Ensure all required documentation and pre-testing is completed, obtained, and reviewed by clinical office staff prior to surgery (medical clearances, EKGs, cardiology work-up, pulmonary tests, etc.). All documentation involved in chart preparation for surgical cases must have double identifiers (ex. patient's name and date of birth). Manages referrals and insurance authorizations for diagnostic procedures. Obtain authorization within 2 business days of patient's visit unless identified as urgent by physician. Creates, scans and files patient charts. Files medical documentation and patient charts where applicable. Prepares patient charts in anticipation of office hours where applicable. Scans medical records into individual patient accounts within EMR system following scanning guidelines. Surgical coordinator facilitates communication between physician and hospital departments, department management and patients. Surgical coordinator works independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
