The Director of Clinical Services provides overall operational management, function and evaluation of all clinical services, including performance of therapeutic programs, staff utilization, recruitment selection, orientation, training, guidance/counseling, employee relations and performance evaluations. Functions as an inter-departmental liaison to the medical staff, nursing staff, program staff and other specific facility departments to ensure well-integrated provision of services. Interview patients, families and significant others, and evaluates the precipitating admission factors, emotional and psychological problems, available personal/community support systems, relevant family dynamics and financial/legal issues relative to discharge planning. Formulate, implement, evaluate, and modify a clinically sound plan of care for patient discharge. Assess and follow up on issues concerning patients rights as they relate to the Baker Act, emergency admissions procedures, involuntary placement procedures, etc. Assure that patients or Guardians signature is obtained as indicated. Carries a case load of patients in support of the facility Educate patient or Guardian (if applicable) about legal rights as per Baker Act and has patient/Guardian sign same. Formulate therapeutic relationships and provides education to patients, families, and individuals relative to discharge planning and aftercare. Coordinate all discharge planning with families, interdisciplinary treatment team, agencies and other community resources. Participate as a vital member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, agencies, and other community resources. Interface with the family and physician in resolving problems associated with the patients admission and ongoing hospitalization. Participate in establishing a full-range resource file of information pertinent to the treatment plan. Complete and utilizes all relevant documentation.
