Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE
: The Director of Behavioral Health oversees the administrative and clinical operations of the Behavioral Health clinic, including program development, staff supervision, and coordination of services to ensure high-quality behavioral health care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Directs daily operations of the Behavioral Health clinic, including referral management, scheduling, caseload coordination, and clinical staffing. Supervises behavioral health clinicians by providing consultation, conducting staff meetings and peer reviews, and ensuring timely and accurate clinical documentation. Develops and manages behavioral health programs and services to support quality care delivery and expand access to behavioral health services. Ensures clients receive individualized treatment by coordinating care plans and facilitating referrals to community or medical providers when appropriate Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains behavioral health staff, including coordinating onboarding, credentialing, and orientation processes. Monitors departmental performance by collecting statistical data, preparing reports, and tracking quality metrics. Oversees departmental administrative functions, including participation in operational planning and budget development. Ensures compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards governing behavioral health services.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES
Supports development and optimization of the Behavioral Health electronic medical record system as needed. Conducts employee performance evaluations and manages corrective action when necessary. Maintains professional knowledge through continuing education and professional development. Other duties as assigned by management.
JOB QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
Required:
Master's degree in psychology, counseling, OR related behavioral health field. Current state license in counseling, therapy, OR related behavioral health discipline. Minimum two years behavioral health experience. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, patients, and department leadership. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred:
Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent). Experience in behavioral health leadership or director-level management. Experience with healthcare information systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICALS REQUIREMENTS
Regular working hours with occasional flexibility required. Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods of time. Manage exposure to emotionally sensitive or high-stress situations.
