ABOUT THE JOB
The Vice President, Health Economics will build and lead the function responsible for translating Marathon Health's clinical and claims data across more than 1 million members into actionable insights that guide clinical strategy, operational priorities, and client value delivery. Marathon's Advanced Primary Care (APC) model has already demonstrated the ability to improve outcomes and bend medical cost trend. This role will help accelerate that impact by identifying where the model delivers the greatest clinical and financial value and ensuring those insights directly inform care model design, client strategy, and organizational decision making. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this leader will establish the frameworks, analytics, and team required to rigorously measure and communicate value across more than 600 employer clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and lead Marathon's health economics capability, establishing the methodologies, analytics, and operating rhythm needed to support value-based care delivery. Develop and refine the company's ROI methodology, cost of care analytics, and value measurement frameworks used across clinical strategy, sales, and client relationships. Analyze clinical and claims data to identify high value cohorts, key cost drivers, and opportunities to improve outcomes while reducing avoidable healthcare spend. Create scalable frameworks and tools that enable consistent client level insights and value reporting across Marathon's portfolio. Partner closely with Clinical Operations, Population Health, Finance, Growth, Product, and Analytics teams to ensure insights translate into real world operational action. Support new client sales and renewals through rigorous economic modeling, value projections, and outcomes narratives. Build and develop a high performing team of health economists, actuaries, and analytical experts that provide consultative analytics support to the regional operating units. Within the first 12 to 18 months, this role will establish a credible and repeatable ROI methodology, create scalable frameworks for client value reporting, embed health economics insights into clinical and operational decision making and build the foundation for Marathon Health to lead the market in value measurement for advanced primary care.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 10 years of experience in health economics, actuarial science, value based care analytics, outcomes research, or cost of care modeling or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in one or more relevant domains such as employer sponsored healthcare, population health, advanced primary care, ACOs, or risk based care models. Demonstrated ability to build new capabilities or frameworks in complex healthcare environments. Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to translate complex analyses into clear insights for executive and client audiences. Experience collaborating across clinical, financial, analytics, and commercial teams.
Pay Range:
$230,000 - $285,000/yr The actual offer may vary dependent upon geographic location and the candidate's years of experience and/or skill level. This position is also eligible for an annual incentive.
