DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
(include but are not limited to the following)
- Interview, hire, schedule, orient, evaluate, counsel and terminate employees of the department.
- Responsible for time sheet authentication.
- Establish, implement and ensure that Patient Access departments policies, procedures and practices are in accordance with regulatory agencies and overall hospital policies as applicable.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to inform staff of changes in procedures, training, and general hospital updates.
- Resolve complaints regarding Patient Access in a timely manner using good judgment and good customer relations skills.
- Coordinate registration procedures with activities of other departments.
- Plan and oversee on the job training for direct reports.
- Supervise activities involving the admitting or registration of patients to the hospital.
- Explain and demonstrate changes in hospital policy or work procedure to staff.
- Develop and implement the department Quality Assurance program.
- Responsible for researching and requisitioning equipment and maintenance of same, as well as education of staff in the use and care of equipment.
- Develop and manage the pre-registration program for the organization, ensuring that 95% of all non-emergent inpatients and outpatients with scheduled procedures are pre-registered.
- Responsible for the proper gathering of all required data relating to a patient visit or admission, including financial, demographic, pre-certification and authorizations, as well as the verification of eligibility for benefits.
- Responsible for proper handling and control of petty cash fund and following established internal control procedures.
