WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING AS CLINICAL SUPERVISOR

In this role, you will provide direct/clinical counseling services to families, couples, individuals, and groups. You will also provide clinical supervision to counseling staff and interns who provide the same services. You'll occasionally wear an admin hat by assisting in preparation of reports and monitoring contract compliance. Here are a few of the things you'll be doing as the clinical supervisor:

• Assist the Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director in selection, orientation, training, and general supervision of Counseling staff and interns, including training on current theories, methods, and legislation
• Provide clinical supervision to therapists and interns in the Counseling Center
• Quality control: You'll do peer reviews and related activities to keep our counseling services top-notch, especially in terms of trauma-informed care and cultural competency
• Serve as liaison with the University of Illinois School of Social Work and other schools for the placement and training of MSW (or related degree) students, including coordination of placements

Outreach:

You will elevate The Counseling Center's visibility by helping with marketing and outreach, as well as attending meetings and events at the community, regional, and state levels.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING IN YOUR CLINICAL THERAPIST ROLE

You'll also have clients. A few things you'll be doing in that role:

• Perform intake assessments (phone or walk-in), and give those clients information, referrals, and advocacy, as appropriate
• Work with a wide array of clients (individuals, families, couples, and groups), providing them with comprehensive, culturally competent, goal-oriented therapy
• Prepare for counseling sessions
• Plan and facilitate therapy groups, as needed
• Write timely case notes and recordings, clinical reports, and other paperwork
• Participate in supervisory meetings, staff meetings, and committee meetings

RELATIONAL

This position involves speaking to the public, both one-on-one and to groups. You're comfortable with a microphone, and you don't mind calling people you don't know and striking up a conversation.

WILLING TO TRAVEL

(LOCALLY): You'll spend a small percentage of time presenting to other organizations and representing the Counseling Center at meetings.

TEAM PLAYER.

We have staff meetings, work at a fast pace, put clients first, and communicate with coworkers. This level of professionalism comes naturally to you.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

This position requires a master's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling, as well as advanced clinical licensure or certification, e.g., LCSW, LCPC, LMFT. Seeking an individual with a current, unrestricted Illinois Clinical License.

• Maintaining all certificates and licensures required for the position
• Handling other tasks as assigned
• Can pass a background check: Any individual who is the subject of a pending investigation by the Department of Children and Family Services for child abuse or neglect, or who has been the subject of an indicated abuse or neglect report, which indicated report has not subsequently been overturned on an appeal, or who has been substantiated as an abuser by an IDOA provider agency is not eligible for employment in the Counseling and Advocacy Program.
