Non-Union FLSA Exempt Position Summary The Associate Dean of Health Sciences and Director of Dental Hygiene & Dental Assisting programs provides academic and administrative leadership for assigned Health Sciences programs and serves as the Director of the Dental Hygiene program. The position provides leadership in curriculum development, program quality, assessment, faculty development, student success, accreditation, clinical education, scheduling, grants, resource management, and compliance with College policies and applicable professional and regulatory standards. As Director of Dental Hygiene, the position is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the Dental Hygiene program, including the management of the dental clinic. The position works collaboratively with faculty, clinical partners, administrators, students, and external professional and accrediting organizations to ensure program quality and student preparedness for professional practice. The Associate Dean supports the Dean and other College leadership in the development and implementation of Health Sciences initiatives and provides leadership for assigned programs, faculty, and projects. The position promotes student-centered practices, interdisciplinary collaboration, continuous improvement, and alignment of Health Sciences programs with workforce needs and institutional priorities. Reporting and Supervisory Relationships Reports to Dean of Career and Technical Education Provides academic and administrative leadership for assigned Health Sciences programs. Directly supervises Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting faculty and staff and other assigned personnel. Provides leadership, coordination, and support to faculty within assigned Health Sciences programs. Collaborates with Deans, Associate Deans, Department Chairs, faculty, staff, Student Affairs personnel, Institutional Effectiveness, and other College departments. Represents Health Sciences and the Dental Hygiene and Assisting programs in internal and external meetings and professional activities as assigned. Essential Responsibilities Associate Dean of Health Sciences Provide academic leadership and administrative support for assigned Health Sciences programs. Support curriculum development, program review, assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement. Monitor enrollment, retention, completion, licensure/certification outcomes, and other program effectiveness measures. Support faculty hiring, onboarding, evaluation, workload, scheduling, and professional development. Assist with program budgets, resource planning, equipment, facilities, and technology. Support student recruitment, retention, progression, completion, and success initiatives. Ensure programs comply with College policies and applicable state, federal, professional, licensing, and accrediting requirements. Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare employers, clinical partners, professional organizations, and other stakeholders. Manage and oversee Perkins and other grants and resources for assigned Health Sciences programs, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and alignment with program and student success goals. Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and staff on Health Sciences initiatives and institutional priorities. Participate in College committees, accreditation activities, grant projects, and other duties as assigned. Director of Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting Programs Provide overall leadership and administration of the Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting programs. Ensure program compliance with applicable accreditation, licensing, regulatory, and professional standards. Lead curriculum development, program assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement. Coordinate accreditation reports, self-studies, site visits, and required program documentation. Coordinate faculty assignments, course scheduling, clinical education, and student progression. Develop and maintain clinical site partnerships and oversee the quality of clinical experiences. Recruit, onboard, supervise, evaluate, and support DH/DA faculty and clinical personnel. Organize and oversee student-facing activities, including outreach, orientation, and enrichment. Monitor program outcomes, including retention, completion, licensure examination performance, and graduate outcomes. Oversee program facilities, equipment, supplies, infection control, health and safety, and clinical resources. Coordinate the Dental Hygiene advisory committee and incorporate stakeholder feedback into program planning. Represent the program with students, faculty, clinical partners, professional organizations, and community stakeholders. Perform other related duties as assigned. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Work is performed in administrative, classroom, laboratory, and clinical environments. Position may require travel to clinical sites and professional or accreditation activities and occasional evening or weekend work. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene, Health Sciences, Education, or closely related field from an accredited institution. Current, unrestricted Illinois dental hygienist license from a CODA accredited program. Minimum of five years of professional dental hygiene experience, including clinical experience. Previous experience teaching in a Dental Hygiene or related Health Sciences program. Previous academic or program leadership experience. Knowledge of curriculum development, assessment, and clinical education. Previous experience with CODA accreditation and regulatory requirements. Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Dental Hygiene, Health Sciences, Education, Organizational Leadership, or related field. Experience as a Dental Hygiene Program Director or comparable academic leadership role. Experience with Dental Hygiene accreditation and self-study processes. Experience supervising faculty and managing academic programs. Experience with program assessment, curriculum development, and continuous improvement. Experience with organizing tutoring programs or other student support initiatives. Community college experience. Anticipated Work Hours and Days M-F 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with additional and evening and weekend hours as required
Salary:
