HOSPITALITY + COFFEE LEAD

(BAKERY + COFFEE BAR) Violet Crumb is a scratch-made neighborhood bakery in downtown Wheaton. Donuts are the thing, but the menu changes constantly. One week it's crullers and cherry danish, the next it's some completely unhinged seasonal drink and a pastry case full of things people travel to town for. Busy mornings are part of the deal. Music on, drinks flying out, boxes stacked across the counter, people asking what sold out already. We're building the kind of neighborhood spot people stop into "real quick" and accidentally stay awhile. That energy matters here. This is a working leadership role. You'll report to our Operations Manager and help lead front of house service day to day. When they aren't on shift, you'll be the person the team looks to—keeping service moving, supporting your teammates, making real-time decisions, and making sure every guest has the experience we're known for. We're looking for someone with exceptional hospitality instincts, strong leadership presence, and great awareness. Someone who naturally notices what needs to happen, keeps calm under pressure, and raises the level of the people around them. Customers should feel it when you're here. The team should too.

THE ROLE

Part-time with opportunity for growth. This is a year-round position, and we're looking for someone interested in growing with us long term.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

Our immediate hiring priority is someone who can reliably open the shop Thursday through Sunday mornings starting at 7am. Weekend availability is required. This is a year-round position. PAY Guaranteed minimum earnings of $18-20 per hour, based on experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Lead front of house service and keep the floor running smoothly Serve as the primary point person when the Operations Manager isn't on shift Support, coach, and direct the team in real time during service Own the quality, consistency, and execution of our coffee bar Help train teammates on beverage standards and front of house hospitality Create a warm, thoughtful experience for every customer Keep the pace, flow, and energy of the shop steady during busy mornings Notice and solve problems before they become problems Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, merchandising, and overall presentation Jump into drinks, register, boxing, dish, reset, restocking, or wherever the team needs support

EXPERIENCE

Previous hospitality, café, restaurant, retail, or customer-facing leadership experience preferred Strong barista experience is strongly preferred Experience training or coaching others is a significant plus Strong hospitality instincts and emotional intelligence are a must
