The Clinical Director serves as the chief clinical officer of the facility and is responsible for the overall leadership, development, implementation, and oversight of the therapeutic treatment program. Working collaboratively with the Medical Director and Administrator, the Clinical Director ensures that all clinical services are delivered in compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and ethical standards and that residents and families receive high‑quality, trauma‑informed care. The Clinical Director ensures that all staff under their supervision function at the highest clinical and ethical standards and effectively meet the needs of residents and families. In accordance with the facility's succession plan, the Clinical Director assumes responsibility for program operations in the absence of the Administrator. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Leadership and Program Oversight Serve as the chief architect of the facility's Behavioral Management and Therapeutic Program, ensuring clinical efficacy, integrity, and alignment with best practices for children and adolescents. Ensure that all clinical services are delivered in compliance with state, federal, licensing, and accreditation standards applicable to PRTF II programs. Maintain positive, collaborative working relationships across all clinical, medical, administrative, and support disciplines. Admissions, Utilization Management, and Occupancy Ensure the facility operates at or near maximum occupancy while maintaining clinical appropriateness and quality of care. Oversee the admissions process and ensure clinical appropriateness criteria and payer requirements are met. Ensure all required prior authorizations, utilization reviews, and continued stay justifications are accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner to maintain reimbursement and occupancy. Support coordination across clinical, administrative, and business functions to streamline admissions workflows and maximize bed utilization. Compliance, Risk Management, and Performance Improvement Participate in and support performance improvement and risk management initiatives. Monitor clinical outcomes, identify areas of risk or opportunity, and implement corrective or improvement strategies as needed. Ensure all clinical documentation meets regulatory, credentialing, and payer standards. Leadership, Strategy, and Organizational Support Actively contribute as a member of the Leadership Team and support the development and execution of the organization's Strategic Plan. Communicate effectively with executive leadership regarding program performance, challenges, and achievements. As a member of the Leadership Team, provide a minimum of thirty (30) days written notice for voluntary termination unless otherwise waived by Leadership. Staff Supervision and Development Provide clinical supervision, guidance, and support to therapists and student interns. Provide support to administrative staff, admissions staff, Mental Health Technicians, and volunteers. Promote ethical practice, professional growth, and adherence to evidence‑based and trauma‑informed treatment principles. Ensure ongoing training and development to maintain clinical competency and regulatory compliance. Licensure, Training, and Crisis Preparedness Maintain current professional licensure and immediately inform the CEO of any interruption in licensure. Complete Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training as required. Complete all assigned training requirements necessary to meet job and licensure standards and maintain competency. Additional Responsibilities Uphold the mission, vision, and values of the organization in all aspects of leadership and clinical practice. Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO. Minimum Qualifications Education Master's degree from an accredited university and program in a human services-related field required Licensure in a human services-related field required (LPCC, LCSW, or LMFT) Experience Two (2) years of post‑full licensure experience in mental health treatment preferred Two (2) years of experience working with children and adolescents preferred Prior supervisory experience preferred Key Competencies Physical Requirements The following physical requirements represent those necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. Demonstrates understanding of admissions processes, payer requirements, and clinical appropriateness criteria. Leadership and Collaboration Works cooperatively with other disciplines to ensure efficient facility operations aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and values. Demonstrates effective conflict management, active listening, and collaborative leadership skills. Ensures coordination among clinical, administrative, and operational teams to support program effectiveness and sustainability.
