Job Description

The Clinical Supervisor will oversee all clinical interns and internship programming Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM during the academic year.

PurposeThe Clinical Supervisor is responsible for ensuring interns receive high-quality clinical training, supervision, and mentorship while maintaining compliance with university requirements, ethical standards, agency policies, and accreditation expectations.

Primary ResponsibilitiesProvide weekly individual clinical supervision to each assigned intern in accordance with university and licensing board requirements.

Review clinical cases and provide guidance on assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, interventions, and discharge planning.

Support interns in developing clinical judgment, ethical decision-making, and professional identity.

Monitor intern competency and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.

Documentation ReviewReview all clinical documentation completed by interns, including:

Progress notesTreatment plansAssessmentsSafety plansDischarge summariesEnsure documentation is completed within agency timelines and meets payer, CARF, and regulatory standards.

Provide corrective feedback and education to improve documentation quality and compliance.

Individual Therapy OversightReview treatment goals and interventions for individual therapy sessions.

Observe sessions as appropriate and provide coaching on engagement, rapport building, therapeutic techniques, and clinical interventions.

Ensure evidence-based practices are implemented appropriately.

Therapeutic Group OversightReview weekly therapeutic group lesson plans and objectives.

Observe group facilitation and provide feedback regarding leadership skills, group dynamics, clinical interventions, and participant engagement.

Ensure therapeutic groups align with treatment goals and program objectives.

Internship Program ManagementCoordinate intern schedules and clinical assignments.

Monitor completion of required internship hours and learning objectives.

Ensure interns receive a variety of clinical experiences, including individual therapy, group therapy, assessments, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Complete university evaluations and communicate with faculty liaisons as needed.

Maintain internship records and ensure compliance with university affiliation agreements.

Quality AssuranceMonitor documentation timeliness and accuracy.

Conduct regular chart reviews for assigned interns.

Ensure adherence to agency policies, ethical standards, HIPAA regulations, Medicaid requirements, and CARF standards.

Identify educational opportunities to strengthen clinical practice and documentation.

Professional DevelopmentFacilitate ongoing education through case consultations, clinical discussions, role-playing, and evidence-based practice reviews.

Mentor interns in professional communication, time management, boundaries, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Encourage self-reflection and continued clinical growth.

Expected OutcomesThe Clinical Supervisor will ensure interns:

Demonstrate competency in individual and group therapy.

Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.

Develop sound clinical decision-making and ethical practice.

Meet university competency requirements and required internship hours.
