Job Description
This position is 12-hour shifts: 7:00am-7:00pm. Purpose of Job This position is responsible for assisting staff in the coordination of intra-and inter-departmental activities and communication. Assists with patient-related activities under the supervision of the RN. Job Functions Process physician orders.
Communicates pertinent information regarding unit/department activates to appropriate staff.
Processes admissions, transfers, discharges, and schedules appointments.
Restocks and orders supplies for unit/area.
Completes assigned clerical responsibilities.
Performs support functions for management staff as required.
Maintains the flow of the department by coordinating care of the patient between other departments.
Demonstrates competencies in the specialty area of Two Medical.
Provides professional and courteous customer service to internal and external customers. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience High School graduate or equivalent Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Strong communicates and listening skillsAbility to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functionsKnowledge of basic computer functionsAbility to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populationsAbility to work autonomously and as a team Capable of making independent decisions wit the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills Ability to work and multi-task in a high stress and fast paced environment Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions mentioned above License/Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 30 days from hire Preferred Qualifications Completion of Health Unit Coordinator coursePrevious HUC experienceExperience in hospital settingKnowledge of medical terminology Physical Demands Link to Employee Health Physical Demands Compensation Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity.
