Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Insurance Coordinator to join our dynamic dental practice team. Responsibilities Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility using electronic health records (EHR) systems and insurance portals. Obtain prior authorizations for dental procedures by communicating effectively with insurance companies and healthcare providers. Accurately code dental procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems to ensure proper billing. Process insurance claims efficiently, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and resolve discrepancies promptly. Maintain comprehensive medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and clinical confidentiality policies. Collaborate with the clinical team to verify coverage for specific treatments and assist patients with understanding their benefits. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for documentation, reporting, and communication purposes related to insurance billing and verification processes. Stay updated on dental insurance policy changes, managed care protocols, and dental billing regulations to ensure accurate processing. Experience Prior experience with Dentrix Software is highly preferred. Prior experience in a dental office setting is highly preferred, demonstrating familiarity with dental terminology, dental records management, and electronic health records (EHR/EHR) systems. Strong knowledge of dental insurance policies, managed care procedures, and insurance prior authorization processes is essential. Proficiency in dental coding, dental billing, and insurance verification is required. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, insurance representatives, and team members. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and experience maintaining clinical confidentiality policies are critical for success in this role. Competency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel to manage documentation efficiently.
