Job Description
Overview The Clinical Director provides direct prenatal, birth, postpartum, and newborn care while leading Three Suns' clinical team. This role oversees scheduling, chart review, policies, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, emergency readiness, and provider collaboration. The Director supports students and staff, maintains clinical standards, and ensures families receive safe, compassionate, relationship-based midwifery care throughout. Our Ideal Midwife has a passion for rural maternal health. Is warm and kind towards clients, takes the time to educate and get to know the women in care. Is skilled with collaborating with physicians and hospitals while advocating for physiologic birth when possible. You're the kind of midwife who celebrates your colleagues' successes, mentors students generously, communicates with kindness, and treats every family with dignity and respect.

Three Suns began as a single-midwife practice and has grown into a full-scale freestanding birth center through community support, strategic leadership, state-backed funding awarded to increase access to maternal healthcare in rural New Mexico.
We're building a team, come be a part of that! Additional Duties Provide comprehensive prenatal education and support to expectant mothers throughout their pregnancy journey Monitor fetal development and maternal health through regular assessments and screenings Assist with labor and delivery, ensuring safety, comfort, and adherence to clinical protocols Offer postpartum care, including breastfeeding support, newborn assessments, and family education Collaborate closely with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care Educate families on pregnancy health, childbirth options, and newborn care practices Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations Experience Current CPM / LM or CNM Proven (3 years+) experience in birthing centers or homebirth Exceptional communication skills to provide empathetic patient education and support Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Familiarity with electronic health record systems and documentation standards Commitment to ongoing professional development in maternal health practices Experience in rural maternal health preferred, but not required Previous management experience strongly preferred
