Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A post-acute specialty hospital is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Manager for an 8+ week contract in Reno, NV. This role offers the opportunity to lead pharmacy operations within a focused setting of 25 staffed beds, with an average daily census of 23 patients. The pharmacy operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with required weekend, after-hours, and on-call coverage ensuring continuous patient care support.
Responsibilities:
Review and verify medication orders, ensuring safe and effective dosing and checking for drug interactions. Oversee medication distribution across patient care units, including managing medication carts, automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis), and emergency medication supplies. Supervise pharmacy staff, including scheduling and training, while working with PRN resources and pharmacists remotely available via Cardinal Health Remote Order Entry Service after hours and weekends. Manage inventory by ordering medications, controlling stock levels, and handling controlled substances responsibly. Maintain high standards of patient safety through adherence to medication-use policies and active participation in safety initiatives. Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, hospital policies, and accreditation standards. Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
Qualifications:
Active and clear Nevada pharmacy license. Experience with IV compounding required. Familiarity with Wellsky pharmacy information system and Pyxis automation preferred. Experience working in hospital-inpatient or specialty hospital pharmacy settings. Strong leadership and staff management skills.
