Job Description

The Asst. Director of Medical Services is responsible to review and oversee assigned medical programs, in both IRA and ICF programs, to ensure maximum coverage and compliance with regulations and IGHL policy.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Connotes Essential Functions E-1 Acts as a manager in any particular program if assigned to do so by the Director of Residential/Medical Services.
E-2 Provides 24 hours emergency coverage for assigned residential programs. E-3 Communicates all significant issues pertaining to staff, consumers, environmental problems or any sensitive situations to the Director of Residential/Medical Services. E-4 Completes an annual comprehensive QA oversight plan to ensure specific management areas are reviewed and maintained in compliance with regulations and IGHL policy. E-5 Reviews and oversees the following management functions within each residential program: fire safety documentation, consumer personal finances, in-service training and documentation, consumer records, personnel records and programs and progress notes. E-6 Oversees the hiring, transfers and terminations of all staff within their assigned programs. E-7 Interviews and hires all management staff within their assigned programs. E-8 Counsels and disciplines employees as necessary. E-9 Completes a comprehensive annual evaluation for each manager. E-10 Conducts regular management meetings with managers and assistant managers. E-11 Oversees the utilization of staff, approves overtime and ensures staff are utilized with the approved staffing limited for each program. E-12 Provides regular management training for both new and experienced management staff. E-13 Submits an annual budget for each program site to the Director of Residential Services. Reviews expenses regularly and ensures programs spend appropriately. 14
  • Ensures that each program site is clean, well organized and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. 15
  • Participates in agency committees and attends special meetings as assigned. 16
  • Enforces and adheres to all safety policies and procedures. 17
  • All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
A. Bachelor's Degree in a related field. B. Two years of supervisory experience. C. Five years of experience working with the MR/DD population. D. Strong oral and written communication skills. E. Familiar with OPWDD regulations. F. Valid NYS driver's license. G. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
