Bennington, Vermont, United States Job Description Responsibilities:

Coordinate non-emergency and interfacility ambulance transportation requests for hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, residential care facilities, and other healthcare partners. Receive, prioritize, and process transportation requests while ensuring accurate collection and documentation of patient, facility, and transport information. Monitor ambulance unit status, availability, and location to facilitate efficient resource utilization and timely response to service requests Dispatch EMS and transport resources utilizing radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems in accordance with established policies and procedures. Serve as a communications link between healthcare facilities, field personnel, emergency responders, and partner agencies to ensure clear and professional information exchange. Maintain accurate records of calls, dispatch activities, transport requests, incident information, and operational communications. Support common operations by tracking ongoing transports, monitoring service levels, and identifying potential scheduling or resource conflicts. Provide exceptional customer service to patients, healthcare providers, partner organizations, and EMS personnel through professional and courteous communications. Follow established protocols to triage requests, escalate urgent situations, and notify supervisory personnel when operational issues arise. Maintain situational awareness during periods of high call volume and effectively manage multiple simultaneous communication channels, including radio traffic, telephone calls, and electronic systems. Perform emergency medical dispatch functions and resource coordination as authorized by training, certification, and organizational policy. Participate in required training, quality improvement initiatives, drills, and continuing education activities to maintain proficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements. Protect patient confidentiality and handle all information in compliance with HIPAA, organizational policies, and applicable state and federal regulations. Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs of EMS, mobile integrated healthcare (MIH), and other healthcare partners.
