Beloit Health System is hiring for a Health Unit Coordinator to join our Medical Surgical Unit Beloit Memorial Hospital.
Shift:
2nd shift
Schedule:
2:45p-11:15p Hours per week: 24 hours per week

Medical Surgical Unit In this position the Health Unit Coordinator will assist the nursing staff with performing the role of receptionist, assuming clerical duties, ensuring the needs of providers, nursing staff, patients, and families are met. The Health Unit Coordinator will monitor electronic medical records of inpatients for physician orders and notify physicians and other departments of patient consultants.
The Health Unit Coordinator:
Answers and directs calls from patients, family members, physicians, and ancillary departments in a professional and pleasant manner. Monitors cardiac telemetry and notify staff RNs for changes. Takes and record vital signs accurately and in a timely manner, reporting unusual Maintains competency in all functions of the computer system. Provides information requested and relays messages accurately and timely to providers, nursing staff, other departments, etc. Initiates, maintains and disassembles patient charts. Demonstrates flexibility in daily schedule and duties. Performs all functions relating to cardiac monitoring and reports changes appropriately. Provides the role of receptionist and orders supplies.
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent education required Requires typing skills of 20 wpm and computer skills. Required to have completed basic EKG course and/or score 85% or higher on BMH EKG exam within six months of hire. Requires the ability to work independently and to react calmly and effectively to emergency situations. Requires excellent communication technique.
