We prioritize patient-centered service and innovative treatment approaches to enhance skin wellness for our community. Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Mohs Technician to join our dynamic dermatology team. In this vital role, the Mohs Tech is responsible for the preparation, processing, staining, and quality evaluation of tissue specimens obtained during Mohs micrographic surgery. This role works closely with the Mohs surgeon to ensure accurate and timely preparation of frozen tissue sections for microscopic examination, contributing directly to patient care and surgical outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Receive, identify, and accession tissue specimens according to established protocols. Embed, freeze, section, stain, and mount tissue specimens for Mohs micrographic surgery. Perform cryostat maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal tissue section quality. Prepare and maintain frozen sections with high attention to orientation and tissue integrity. Ensure accurate labeling, tracking and documentation of all specimens. Maintain quality control and quality assurance standards in accordance with laboratory regulations. Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and inventory. Follow all OSHA, CLIA and applicable regulatory requirements. Collaborate with Mohs surgeons, nursing staff, and administrative personnel to ensure efficient workflow. Assist with laboratory recordkeeping and compliance documentation
Experience:
Previous experience is Mohs histology and frozen section preparation preferred. Knowledge of Mohs micrographic surgery procedures and laboratory workflow preferred.
