Job Description
Histotechnician or Histotechnologist ASCP certification and/or B.S. in Science-related field required.
Work Schedule:
Part-Time and Full-Time shifts available.JOB SUMMARY
Histotechnicians (HT) and Histotechnologists (HTL) prepare human body tissue for examination by other laboratory professionals. The person in this position performs grossing, embedding, microtomy, and all related histology tasks. This position also performs special stain and IHC procedures as directed.PAY:
From $27.00 to $30.00 per hour, based on experience .ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Tissue grossing Embed all types of tissue Section all types of paraffin embedded tissue Follow set protocols and procedures for embedding and microtomy Perform special stain and/or IHC procedures as directed Keep grossing & embedding areas, microtome, and workstations clean and clutter free Participate in troubleshooting and resolving issues in the lab Maintain proper QC requirements and standards Maintain fresh solutions, stains and/or reagents Maintain lab instruments Assist with case assembly and distribution as needed File blocks and slides as needed Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste Thoroughly document pertinent information and maintain effective department QA programs and monitors. Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals. Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data. Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.Work Schedule:
Part-Time and Full-Time shifts available. RequirementsEDUCATION & LICENSURE
Associate's Degree in Histology or a related science field required. (Minimum of 60 hours of college Science credits.) Or, Bachelor's degree in Histology or a related science field preferred. On the job histology training or documented formal histology training preferred.CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION
-ASCP-Histotechnician (ASCP-HT) or Histotechnologist (ASCP-HTL) preferred. Must be eligible to become ASCP-HT orASCP-HTL
certified within one year of hire.EXPERIENCE
Minimum one year of experience working in a histology lab. (preferred) Microtomy and/or embedding (preferred). Stringent documentation and record keeping skills (required). Experience in GU and GI (preferred) Tissue grossing (preferred) Immunohistochemistry experience (preferred) 1 year of QA/QC experience (preferred) Team-oriented (required)City Little Rock, Arkansas Pay:
