Job Description

Our client, a healthcare facility located in Western Colorado, near Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, has a need for a Histology Supervisor to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced histology professional looking to lead a growing service and make a meaningful impact within the team and community.
Position Overview:
Prepares histologic and cytologic specimens for microscopic analysis by the Pathologist and Cytotechnologist. Is responsible for embedding, cutting, mounting and staining tissue specimens. Performs immunohistochemical and special stains. Performs all appropriate quality control materials and maintains records thereof. Supervises and trains pathology technician and histology technician in Histology/Cytology. Troubleshoot staining problems and machine malfunctions. Validate new stains and IHC antibodies as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education :
Associate Degree or at least 60 semester hours at an accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry with two years experience in histopathology under the supervision of a pathologist. Requires national registration by the ASCP in Histology.
Training & Experience:
Requires a minimum of at least seven years of full time experience in Histotechnology and two years experience in histopathology under the supervision of a Pathologist or an accredited school for Histotechnology.
Job Knowledge :
Experience with CAP and/or JCAHO inspections required.
