Flu Varicella Description Summary:

The Histotechnician will perform all routine and special paraffin histotechnology duties in a state-of-the-art, CAP-certified pathology laboratory. Under the guidance of a Senior or Lead Histotechnologist, the Histotechnician will provide high-quality diagnostic material within established turnaround times. Position Responsibilities Embed, cut, stain, and perform other tasks required to process tissue in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory. Perform accurate gross descriptions on tissue samples. Perform quality control procedures established for each method and maintain accurate records. Operate all instruments/equipment according to accepted written procedures and recognize and identify instrument/equipment problems. Meet acceptable turnaround time and productivity standards for the section. Recognize testing errors, discrepancies, or problems and notify appropriate personnel; assist in problem resolution. Record, transcribe, and maintain records of patient test results according to protocol. Assist other personnel with identifying and analyzing inconsistent and abnormal results. Review the accuracy and completeness of results prior to releasing them in the Laboratory Information System. Complete routine and STAT testing within acceptable turnaround time guidelines. Required Qualifications Associate degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related life science. Formal training in Histology from an accredited program (720 hours). State licensure, where applicable. (CA, FL, and NY require licensing.) Meet CLIA personnel standard criteria. Skills in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting, and routine special staining techniques. 2-4 years of experience.
