In this vital role, you will provide attentive assistance to residents or clients in various settings such as assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop your caregiving skills while making a positive impact on people's well-being. Responsibilities Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support. Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate care documentation. Support medication administration following prescribed protocols and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary. Use proper manual handling techniques and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts to ensure safety during mobility assistance. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks, including cleaning patient areas and equipment. Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being, especially for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's, or neurodevelopmental disorders. Assist with transportation needs for appointments or community outings using personal transportation assistance skills. Follow care plans meticulously while collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Adhere to all safety protocols including first aid, CPR certification requirements, and emergency response procedures. Skills Proven experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments. Strong patient observation skills with the ability to monitor vital signs and recognize changes in condition. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, hospice care, and social work principles related to elder or disability support. Familiarity with patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and patient personal care assistance techniques. Ability to perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and meal preparation efficiently. Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities requiring intellectual disabilities support. Excellent client communication skills coupled with compassionate caregiving approach; able to build trusting relationships. Certification in first aid and CPR; understanding of HIPAA regulations for maintaining confidentiality. Ability to handle heavy lifting safely while maintaining manual handling standards; experience working with neurodevelopmental disorders is a plus. Knowledge of medication administration procedures and assisting with prescribed treatment plans.
