BROAD SCOPE OF POSITION
: Act under the supervision of Licensed Independent Director and Regional Director to carry out all duties of personal care and assistance (including housekeeping, serving of food, laundry, and activities) to residents of Desert Winds Independent Living Community. Responsible for handling residents in a manner conducive to their safety, dignity, and emotional and physical well being. Responsible for executing all duties within the guidelines of Desert Winds policies and procedures and resident rights.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene, positioning, transfers, mobility and incontinence care within the guidelines of state law and Desert Winds policies and procedures
  • Collect, launder, and distribute residents' personal laundry, including bed linens. Follow all policies governing infection control and hazardous waste.
  • Prepare, assist with and document the assistance with medication to residents and in compliance with physician's orders
  • Prepare residents for meals and snacks if contracted under service to do so.
  • Keep proper records of care given
  • Assist ED with Home Care billing monthly and maintain records of charges
  • Follow all safety and infection control policies and procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness of contracted resident rooms
  • Attend all required in-service training
  • Comply with and understand all resident rights
  • Communicate all pertinent information to ED
  • Communicate with oncoming shift to ensure follow through of duties
  • Report unsafe or hazardous conditions immediately
  • Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION

  • Walking & Sitting

  • Distinguishing smells, tastes and temperatures
  • Reading and writing
  • Communication skills
  • Maintain composure under stress
  • Hear and respond to resident emergency call system
  • Be able to identify and assist in emergency medical situations
EDUCATION PREFERRED
  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • State certification as a licensed certified caregiver preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Three months full time or the equivalent in part time experience preferred
SPECIAL SKILLS OR REQUIREMENTS
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, community, state officials, and general public
  • Compassion and desire to work with frail and elderly
  • Must meet all State health requirements
  • Must have fingerprint clearance and
