Direct Support Professional/ Caregiver A Brighter Horizon ARF San Jacinto, CA Job Details Full-time $17 - $19 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications BLS Certification CPR Assisting with ADLs High school diploma or GED Full Job Description The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver provides compassionate, person-centered care and support to adults with developmental disabilities, including individuals with autism, in an Adult Residential Facility (ARF) setting. The DSP is responsible for assisting residents with daily living activities, promoting independence, ensuring safety, supporting behavioral needs, and creating a positive and respectful home environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates patience, empathy, reliability, and a commitment to improving the quality of life for individuals receiving residential services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct care and supervision to residents while promoting dignity, independence, and personal choice. Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, bathing, meal preparation, and maintaining personal spaces. Support residents with medication administration as trained and authorized, including accurate documentation of medication records and reporting any concerns. Implement and follow Individual Program Plans (IPPs), behavior support plans, and individualized goals established by the Regional Center and care team. Provide guidance, coaching, and encouragement to help residents develop life skills, independence, and confidence. Assist with meal preparation, grocery shopping, household chores, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized residential environment. Support residents during community outings, appointments, day programs, recreational activities, and other scheduled activities. Provide supervision and assistance during transportation while ensuring client safety. Recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral challenges, including aggression, self-injurious behaviors, emotional distress, and other support needs using approved intervention strategies. Use positive reinforcement, redirection, and de-escalation techniques to encourage appropriate behaviors and promote emotional regulation. Complete required documentation, including daily progress notes, incident reports, medication documentation, communication logs, and other facility records accurately and timely. Observe, document, and report changes in clients' physical health, mental health, behaviors, and overall well-being to supervisory staff. Maintain confidentiality and protect residents' privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies. Communicate professionally and effectively with supervisors, coworkers, families, conservators, Regional Center representatives, medical providers, and other members of the client's support team. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development opportunities. Follow all facility policies, licensing regulations, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
