You will work closely with individuals who have diverse needs, including those requiring assistance with intellectual and developmental disabilities by ensuring they receive respectful and high-quality support every day. Duties Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Administer medication and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans and safety protocols. Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition to promote health and well-being. Implement behavior management strategies to encourage positive behaviors and manage challenging situations effectively. Operate standard passenger vehicles safely for community outings or appointments, adhering to all traffic laws. Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, resident progress, and incident reports to ensure compliance with regulations. Uphold residents' rights by respecting their preferences, privacy, and dignity while fostering a safe and supportive environment. Perform manual handling tasks safely during resident transfers or heavy lifting activities to prevent injury. Engage in cleaning duties to maintain a hygienic living environment that meets health standards. Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to coordinate care plans and address individual needs.
Behavioral Support :
Implement individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSP) and Individual Program Plans (IPP). Recognize behavioral triggers and apply approved crisis de-escalation techniques calmly and professionally. Administer or assist with medication procedures safely, following strict agency policies and licensing regulations. Accurately complete progress notes, behavioral data tracking, medication logs, and incident reports in a timely manner.
Household & Community Support :
Assist with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and laundry. Safely transport and accompany residents to medical appointments, day programs, and community recreational outings Experience Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or residential care homes is highly valued. Demonstrated experience assisting with ADLs and providing personal care in home or community settings. Familiarity with medication administration procedures and vital signs monitoring. Background intellectual disability environments enhances your ability to connect with residents' unique needs. Experience working with individuals with developmental or cognitive disabilities in group home or long-term care settings. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and adhere to safe patient lifting practices. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; ongoing training is encouraged to stay current on best practices. : Valid First Aid and CPR certificates. Completion of mandatory DSP Year 1 and Year 2 certifications (completed within the first year of employment). Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record. Pass a California Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI criminal background check (fingerprinting) along with TB/health screenings. Strong communication skills, emotional resilience, situational awareness, and the ability to remain calm during behavioral escalations.
