A key part of this position is helping our clients stay connected with the outside world by taking them to appointments, social outings, or helping them run errands. Helping to maintain a safe and comfortable home environment is an equally important part of the job. We are looking for caregivers that are interested in learning and growing their skills within the senior care industry. Must be able to function with minimal supervision, accepting personal responsibility for maintaining a professional relationship with the client. Must accept responsibility for maintaining skills and learning on an ongoing basis, as well as adhering to agency policies. Must pass all background screening with satisfactory results. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must possess effective communication skills Duties of Companion Caregivers may include: Light housekeeping Menu planning, meal preparation and set up Laundry and linen change Transportation/shopping Bathing and dressing assistance set up only Safety and companionship Major Responsibilities Caregivers must be observant enough to recognize changes in their clients, and be capable of alerting the appropriate personnel when necessary. Does not administer medication or perform any procedures requiring the knowledge or skills of a licensed nurse or registered therapist. California Specific Requirements Possess a valid form of Identification (i.e. California Driver's License) Possess a Tuberculosis Clearance (no more than 90 days old) or if positive for TB, possess a chest x-ray indicating that they are free of TB Complete the ongoing training requirement of 5 hours per year Physical Qualifications Able to bend, climb, stoop, and stand an average of 5 hours per day. Able to lift 20-30 pounds. Able to use tools necessary for job.
