General Purpose:

Angels Service, a program of Easterseals Colorado, provides individualized support services that help people with disabilities live more independently and participate fully in their communities. Direct Support Professionals provide compassionate, person-centered support through respite care, community engagement, homemaker services, personal care, mentorship, and other individualized services designed to enhance quality of life. This position requires a commitment to a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist individuals with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Provide companionship, encouragement, and mentorship.
• Support individuals in accessing community resources, recreational opportunities, and social events.
• Promote skill development and independence through guided learning and experience.
• Follow care plans and collaborate with the program manager and team to ensure high-quality services.
• Perform household cleaning and sanitation tasks as needed to maintain safe and healthy living environments.
• Safely transport participants using a personal vehicle while maintaining required insurance coverage.
• Document services provided accurately and in a timely manner.
• Respond to emergency situations with professionalism and care.

Qualifications:

• Possess a high school diploma or GED or have evidence of pursuing a high school diploma.
• Ability to pass all required background checks (criminal, adult protective services, motor vehicle).
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, family members, service providers, and team members in both verbal and written formats.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus but not required.
• Basic technology skills (phone and computer use).
• Compassionate, flexible, and dependable.
• Ability to observe, report, and record the client's care and condition accurately.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, clients, and families, and staff members.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries while fostering positive relationships.
• Ability to complete required trainings within designated timeframes.

Schedule Expectations:

• Full-time position averaging 40 hours per week.
• Schedule will vary based on participant needs and service delivery requirements.
• Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
• May be assigned split shifts or adjusted schedules to support participant activities and appointments.
• Travel throughout the service area is required to provide services in participants' homes and community settings.
• Employees are expected to maintain flexibility and reliability in meeting assigned schedules and providing consistent support to participants.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Valid, current state driver's license and access to a reliable automobile.
• Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of job performance.
• Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards in the performance of job functions.

Physical Requirements of This Position:

This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and assisting individuals with mobility needs. Employees must be able to safely lift, transfer, and support individuals as required by service plans.
