Responsibilities Provide direct support for adults with behavioral needs — personal hygiene care, ADL assistance, meal prep, mobility, and daily living skills. Maintain a calm, steady demeanor throughout every interaction, including during challenging moments. Engage actively and meaningfully with the individuals you support — connection is a core part of this role, not an afterthought. Monitor health and behavior, document observations accurately, and communicate updates to program staff at shift end. Foster a respectful, inclusive, person-centered environment that upholds dignity and individual preferences at all times. Attend 3 days of required training in North Haven, CT prior to beginning work. Follow program safety protocols, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to all Arbor and program-specific standards throughout every shift. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Personal or professional caregiving experience preferred; 6+ months in human services a plus Comfortable supporting adults with behavioral needs and providing hands-on personal hygiene and ADL care Able to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in all client interactions Must be available to attend 3 days of required training in North Haven, CT Valid driver's license required Certifications CPR/FA certification (required) PMT and other restraint training as required by assignment CT Medication Administration certification as required by assignment Physical Requirements Ability to lift at least 50 lbs Prolonged standing; bending, kneeling, crouching as needed Indoor and community-based activity involvement Psychological Requirements Emotional stability and resilience when supporting individuals who may exhibit challenging behaviors Capacity to remain calm, patient, and professional in high-stress situations Strong attention to detail and ability to follow program protocols precisely Arbor Associates serves Southern New England, including Greater Boston, Central and Western Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
