DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL

(DSP) - Excellent Community Services, Inc. (ECS) is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to an adult with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a community-based Day Habilitation and IDS program .

POSITION-SPECIFIC INFORMATION

For this assignment, a female staff member is needed to support a female client who requires assistance while participating in community-based activities. Experience supporting individuals with medical needs is strongly preferred. The client travels from her home to the Day Habilitation program using MTM transportation and requires staff assistance during transportation. The assigned DSP must report to work at 9:00 AM an accompany/support the client as required.

Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM

POSITION OVERVIEW

Excellent Community Services, Inc. provides community-based services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Washington, DC, and Maryland . The DSP will provide individualized, person-centered support while assisting the assigned individual with participating in recreational, leisure, social, educational, and community-integration activities. The DSP is expected to develop meaningful community activities based on the individual's interests, preferences, needs, and person-centered goals . Activities should promote independence, community inclusion, social development, safety awareness, and the development of daily living and vocational skills.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Direct Support Professional will: Provide 1:1 support to the assigned individual throughout the program day. Assist the individual with safely accessing and participating in community activities. Develop person-centered activities based on the individual's interests, preferences, and goals. Encourage participation in new and meaningful experiences that promote independence and community integration. Assist the individual with accessing community resources and services. Support the development of social, vocational, communication, safety, and independent-living skills. Accompany and monitor the individual during community outings and activities. Assist with transportation and the use of public or authorized transportation services when required. Follow the individual's person-centered plan, medical protocols, behavioral support plans, safety plans, and other applicable service requirements. Complete accurate and timely daily progress notes, attendance records, and other required documentation . Maintain professional communication with supervisors, coworkers, families, transportation providers, and other members of the individual's support team. Follow all ECS policies, procedures, confidentiality requirements, and health and safety protocols. DSPs must be comfortable traveling throughout the community on a daily basis and actively engaging the individuals they support in planning meaningful and productive days. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for this position.

Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM Applicants must be dependable and available to work the assigned schedule consistently.

LOCATIONS

Services are primarily provided throughout the community in Washington, DC, and Maryland . The community-based program may begin at: Bald Eagle Recreation Center Washington, DC ECS's main administrative office, where staff training and other employment-related activities may take place, is located at: Excellent Community Services, Inc. Beechley Square Business Center 4518 Beech Road Temple Hills, MD

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the following requirements: Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in Individualized Day Supports, Day Habilitation, or a comparable community-based program. Experience supporting individuals with medical needs is strongly preferred . Experience supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Demonstrated experience assisting individuals with accessing community resources and participating in community-based activities. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the community as required. High School Diploma or equivalent with appropriate documentation verifying completion. Current CPR/AED and Basic First Aid certification , or ability to obtain required certification before beginning independent services. Ability to complete all required employment screenings, training, and documentation. Selected candidates must obtain or provide all required employment clearances, including applicable TB screening/testing, medical clearance, and criminal background checks , before beginning employment.

Compensation is competitive and will be based on the applicant's qualifications and relevant experience.
