Position Summary The APD Direct Support provides supportive, person‑centered assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities in accordance with Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) standards. This role focuses on promoting independence, safety, community inclusion, and meaningful daily engagement while maintaining a respectful, home‑like environment. Primary Responsibilities Provide non‑medical personal support such as prompting, supervision, and assistance with daily routines Support individuals in community activities , appointments, recreational outings, and social engagement Encourage and model independent living skills , including hygiene routines, household tasks, and personal organization Assist with meal preparation , safe food handling, and support during mealtimes Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with APD requirements (daily notes, progress summaries, incident reports) Promote a safe environment by following all facility policies , APD standards, and state regulations Communicate effectively with residents, families, guardians, and supervisory staff Provide companionship, emotional support, and positive social interaction Observe and report changes in behavior, health, or functioning to supervisory staff Support residents in achieving goals outlined in their Implementation Plans (IPs) and Support Plans (SPs) Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred Ability to complete required APD trainings (Zero Tolerance, Core Competencies, HIPAA, HIV/AIDS, Infection Control, etc.) Reliable transportation and ability to accompany residents in the community Strong communication skills and ability to follow structured care plans Compassionate, patient, and committed to person‑centered care Ability to pass Level 2 Background Screening Key Competencies Professionalism and ethical conduct Patience, empathy, and respectful communication Ability to work independently and as part of a care team Problem‑solving and situational awareness Documentation accuracy and compliance Supportive engagement and positive reinforcement Work Environment Home‑like assisted living or group home setting Community outings, appointments, and recreational activities Flexible scheduling may include day, evening, or weekend shifts Job Type Full‑time or part‑time Available hours Monday- Friday 7:00 am to 3 pm 3:00 pm to 8 pm Saturday- Sunday 7:00 am to 3 pm 3:00 pm to 8 pm
