Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Resident Care Assistant The resident care assistant assists nursing personnel in providing non-professional nursing care and simple resident services, under the direction and supervision of the Health Service Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides care as directed by the Health Service Director to residents Reports observations and other pertinent information related to the care of the resident. Documents object information related to resident care. Provides services that support the care delivered to the resident. Provides input in the formulation and evaluation of standards of care Participates in the development of unit objectives Participates in the identification of staff educational needs. Comply with unit and facility policies Participates in the quality assessment and improvement process and activities Attends and participates in continuing education programs Communicates with other nursing and department personnel Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, etc. throughout working hours Performs other related duties as assigned/requested by

Health Service Director Minimum Qualifications:

High School graduation or GED equivalency Prior nursing assistant/student nurse experience preferred Completion of certification program for nursing assistants preferred Employer conducts background check and requires specific medical testing ahead of hire, and has additional hiring requirements. 18 years or older due to hours of work

Exposure Risk:

• High risk for exposure to blood or body fluids

Supervision:

Receives administrative supervision from Health Service Director Exercises functional supervision, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties

Abilities and Working Conditions:

Works in nursing service areas, resident rooms, nurses stations, etc. Sits, bends, stands, lifts and moves intermittently throughout work hours Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, blood and body fluids Subject to frequent interruptions Ability to move intermittently throughout work day Due to the nature of the job, ability to speak and write in the English language Ability to see and hear, or use prosthetic devices to enable them to use these senses Ability to lift, push, pull and move a minimum of 50 pounds frequently Ability to assist with resident evacuation
