Job Duties:

Monitor the health status of an individual with disabilities or illness, and address their health-related needs, such as changing bandages, dressing wounds, or administering medication. Work is performed under the direction of offsite or intermittent onsite licensed nursing staff. Provide assistance with routine healthcare tasks or activities of daily living, such as feeding, bathing, toileting, or ambulation. May also help with tasks such as preparing meals, doing light housekeeping, and doing laundry depending on the patient's abilities.

Requirements:

Must complete a state-established or other training program training program that contain classroom and supervised practical training totaling at least 75 hours, with at least 16 hours devoted to supervised practical training. Must have an additional twenty (20) hour supplemental course unless they can provide documentation that their C.N.A. course included the forty (40) hours of home health aide training. Must receive no less than three (3) hours of in-service training per calendar quarter. Must hold a certificate from the State of Florida. Must have four (4) hours of

education Must comply with the requirements for Good Moral Character Screening and Criminal Records Check. Must pass a competency evaluation test. Must have tact, good judgment and maturity in dealing with the ill. Be able to understand and carryout directions. Be able to read, write and keep accurate records. Must have an interest in people and a compassionate attitude toward the care of the sick. Must be neat in appearance, practices and have good personal hygiene. Be able to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
