In-person care provided in clients' homes in and around Union City About the Position Seniors Helping Seniors® Atlanta Southwest is hiring a Personal Care Assistant to provide non-medical personal care and daily living support to older adults in the Union City area. Personal Care Assistants work one-on-one with clients according to an established service plan. We are looking for dependable caregivers who are comfortable providing hands-on assistance and working independently in a client's home. Responsibilities Depending on the client's service plan and your demonstrated competency, duties may include: Assist with bathing, showering, grooming, oral care, dressing, and toileting Assist with ambulation, transfers, positioning, gait belts, and approved mobility devices Provide continence and personal hygiene assistance Assist with eating, nutrition, and hydration Prepare and serve meals Observe and report changes in condition, skin concerns, safety risks, or other client concerns Take and record vital signs when assigned and trained Provide medication reminders within the permitted PCA role Provide companionship and safety supervision Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and linen changes Provide transportation or escort assistance when assigned Follow infection-control and safety procedures Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow incident-reporting procedures Complete accurate and timely care documentation Follow the client's service plan and remain within the Personal Care Assistant scope of practice These duties are consistent with the PCA competencies SHS uses for personal care assignments, including transfers, bathing, toileting, dressing, mobility, eating assistance, documentation, infection control, and reporting changes in condition. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license Reliable transportation to client homes Automobile insurance when driving is required for an assignment Ability to work independently in a client's home Ability to follow written service plans and instructions Strong communication and documentation skills Previous experience providing care to older adults preferred PCA, CNA, HHA, or related caregiving experience preferred CPR and First Aid certification preferred; training opportunities may be available Must successfully demonstrate competency before performing assigned personal care duties Must meet applicable Georgia direct-care employment screening requirements Employment Requirements Before client assignment, employees must complete applicable onboarding requirements, which may include: Georgia-required criminal background screening Fingerprinting when applicable Employee health screening Required TB documentation or appropriate medical clearance Orientation and required training Competency evaluation for assigned Personal Care Assistant duties SHS's current employment process requires direct-care employees to meet health-screening and applicable TB documentation requirements before client assignment.
