Hourly wages provided upon request; overtime eligible (1.5x pay over 40 hours/week) About the Role Are you looking for a fulfilling full-time career where you can make a genuine difference in people's lives every day? RISE Ltd. is hiring a Full-Time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our Supported Community Living (SCL) team in Oelwein, IA . As a DSP, you will work directly with individuals with disabilities in their homes and throughout the local community. Your primary focus will be implementing person-centered Individual Program Plans (IPPs) designed to foster independence, build life skills, increase quality of life, and encourage community inclusion.
Key Responsibilities Daily Living Support:
Assist individuals in their homes with personal care/hygiene, meal planning and preparation, household chores, and pet care as needed.
Financial Empowerment:
Help individuals manage personal finances, write checks, budget, pay bills, and reconcile bank accounts per program plans.
Community Integration & Transportation:
Drive and accompany individuals to local community events, social outings, medical/mental health appointments, and errands.
Goal & Plan Implementation:
Actively support individuals in achieving their personal goals, building natural support networks, making informed choices, and advocating for themselves.
Health, Safety & Medication:
Administer medications, promote overall health and wellness, follow infection control standards, and respond promptly to safety hazards or crises.
Documentation & Communication:
Complete required digital documentation/assessments accurately, log service hours, and maintain professional communication with family members, co-workers, and health providers.
Qualifications & Requirements Required:
Basic literacy in English (reading, writing, basic math skills). Valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to be insured under RISE Ltd.'s vehicle policy (capable of daytime/nighttime driving, long distances, and varied weather conditions). High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to pass required background checks (no felony convictions or founded reports of child or dependent adult abuse).
Physical stamina:
Ability to stand/walk moderate distances (2-4 miles per shift), with full range of motion (bending, reaching, stooping, lifting) required for up to 75% of your shift. Digital literacy using computers, tablets, smartphones, and basic keyboarding for electronic documentation. Agency-Provided Certifications (Paid Training): CPR and First Aid certifications Med Manager and/or Certified Medication Aide course completion Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training Working Environment & Expectations Full-time schedule flexibility; willingness to accept changes in work hours as needed to support individuals. Requirements:

Basic Qualifications & Education Literacy:
Must be literate in English with strong reading, writing, and basic math skills.
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Age:
Must be at least 18 years old. 2.
Background Checks & Clearances Criminal Record:
Must pass a criminal history background check (no felony convictions).
Abuse Registries:
Must have clear records on the Child Abuse Registry and Dependent Adult Abuse Registry.
Note:
Certain criminal charges or abuse findings result in automatic exclusion unless official approval/evaluation is granted by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) . 3.
Driving & Transportation Requirements Driver's License:
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Insurability:
Must maintain insurability under RISE Ltd.'s vehicle insurance policy.
Driving Conditions:
Ability to drive agency or personal vehicles during daytime and nighttime hours, in city conditions, over long distances, and during inclement weather. 4. Required Certifications (Agency-Provided) Candidates must complete or hold current certifications in the following (training costs covered by RISE Ltd.):
Medication Administration:
Completion of the Med Manager and/or Certified Medication Aide course.
Abuse Training:
Mandatory Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training.
Safety:
CPR and First Aid certifications. 5.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions Stamina & Physical Motion:
Requires high physical stamina, full range of motion, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Daily Range of Motion:
Up to 75% of your shift involves physical tasks such as bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, stretching, kneeling, climbing, balancing, and negotiating stairs.
Standing & Walking:
Up to 75% of your shift is spent on your feet, including walking moderate distances (2 to 4 miles).
Senses:
Normal range of vision and hearing, plus the ability to distinguish numbers and symbols.
Environment:
Ability to work in well-lit indoor environments as well as outdoors in varied weather conditions. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, dirty environments, or pets. 6.
Technical & Communication Skills Digital Literacy:
Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, computers, and basic office software.
Keyboarding:
Keyboarding fluency required for electronic documentation, assessment completion, and email communication.
Interpersonal Skills:
Strong verbal communication and active listening skills. Ability to establish professional relationships with service recipients, families, providers, and co-workers.
Problem Solving & Crisis Management:
Ability to handle crisis situations, prioritize multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and make sound decisions.
