Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential assistance and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other needs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering a safe, respectful, and empowering environment while helping clients achieve their personal goals. This role involves direct interaction with clients, offering personal care, communication support, and transportation assistance to promote independence and well-being. Duties Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and preferences, ensuring respectful and personalized care. Assist clients with personal care tasks such as grooming, hygiene, and mobility support. Provide transportation assistance for appointments, errands, or community activities to facilitate client independence. Support clients in their daily home routines, including meal preparation, medication reminders, and household tasks as needed. Administer first aid and CPR when necessary to ensure safety during emergencies. Work closely with individuals who have developmental disabilities or other disabilities, tailoring support to meet their unique needs. Collaborate with team members and family members to develop and implement individualized care plans. Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and client progress. Skills Strong communication skills with the ability to interact empathetically with clients of diverse backgrounds. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities is highly preferred. Knowledge of personal care techniques and safety procedures. Ability to provide transportation assistance safely and responsibly. First aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire. Background or experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is highly preferred. Patience, compassion, and a positive attitude toward supporting individuals with special needs. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
