Day Training , where you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to achieve greater independence and quality of life. Your compassionate approach will help clients build confidence while ensuring their safety and well-being throughout their day. Duties DSP/DT will report to the appointed department supervisor, and upon the supervisor not being available will follow the Organizational Chart to report to the next available person for assistance.
A DSP/DT
must complete an Individualized face to face training on any participants prior to providing a service. Enable a participant to accomplish tasks that the participant normally would do for himself or herself if the participant did not have a disability. Shall promote the acquisition of skills; build positive social behavior and interpersonal competence, greater independence, and personal choice. In the event a DSP/DT transports a participant, in their personal vehicle they must have a valid driver's license, and current insurance on their vehicle. DSP/DT will promote career planning or prevocational activities, once a year, to develop learning opportunities and career options consistent with the participants' skills and interests. DSP/DT will promote active training designed to prepare a participant to transition from school to adult responsibilities community integration and work. DSP/DT will provide hands-on assistance to perform tasks for participants. DSP/DT will remind, observe, guide, or educate a participant in activities/independent activities of daily living. DSP/DT will administer medications following agency protocols and following the 6 (six) rights of medication administration. DSP/DT will participate as a member of the participant's person-centered team if requested by the participant. DSP/DT will document each contact with participant which shall include a full description of the service provided, the date of service, the location of service, the beginning and ending time of the service, your printed name and signature and title and the date the entry was made in the record. All documentation is to be completed daily and accurately, before the end of the day, no exception. DSP/DT will keep the ADT site clean and organized. Check and clean all areas at the end of each shift, no exceptions. This includes wiping down and sanitizing all hard surfaces, sweeping, mopping, etc. DSP/DT will hold the health, safety, and welfare of the participant in the highest regard. Skills Experience working with individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, or disabilities in a supportive setting. Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices. Proficiency in behavior management techniques to encourage positive outcomes. Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely for client transportation purposes. Familiarity with assisting clients with cognitive disabilities and supporting their independence through ADLs. Strong communication skills tailored to diverse needs, including client communication and caregiver collaboration. Certification in first aid and CPR to ensure safety during all activities. Experience in data collection for tracking progress and reporting purposes. Background in home & community care or caregiving roles supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Qualifications Must possess a high school diploma, or GED, and are at least 18 years of age. Must be able to effectively communicate with everyone involved in a participant's team. This would include but not limited to family members, case management, guardian, behavior specialist, etc. Must possess and maintain a clear criminal background check; CAN check; nurse aid registry check, and negative drug screen. This process will be completed at the time of pre-employment and randomly each year to meet the percentage requirement through KARS. Possess and maintain a negative TB skin test, or x-ray at the time of pre-employment, and then complete a risk assessment each year thereafter. Must complete all training required through the College of Direct Support, mandated Medication Administration training, and Crisis Prevention and Intervention training.
