Life Enrichment Specialist (Caregiver)

Munfordville, Ky Caregiver Match Profile The client is open to a caregiver of any gender, though a female caregiver is preferred. Race and nationality are not factors; the priority is finding someone experienced, dependable, proactive, and confident in providing safe support. Home and environment Smoking is not permitted inside the home. There are no animals or other residents in the home. The home is clean, organized, single-level, and arranged to accommodate the client's visual impairment and mobility needs. Because the client has limited vision and is a fall risk, it is especially important that the caregiver keeps the home clean, tidy, and free of clutter. Items should not be moved or changed without the client's approval, since he relies on the existing setup to move around safely. Mobility and health needs The client is mobile but considered a fall risk due to dizziness, limited vision. The caregiver should be physically able to provide safe assistance if he falls, while following appropriate safety practices and seeking emergency help when needed. The home has a pull-string emergency call system in place in the event of a fall. Care needs The caregiver will be expected to: Provide supervision and standby assistance for fall prevention and safe mobility. Assist the client in and out of the shower; bathing assistance itself is not currently needed. Provide non-medical assistance with eye care, including helping hold the eye open while the client places his contact lens. Help with errands, transportation, and community outings as needed. Maintain a clean, predictable, and orderly living environment. Respect the client's established home layout and routines, asking permission before moving belongings, making changes, or reorganizing anything. Use patience and clear communication, taking into account the client's vision and hearing limitations. Remain attentive to changes in dizziness, breathing, swelling, balance, or overall condition and communicate concerns appropriately to the client, family, or supervisor. Ideal caregiver personality The best caregiver for this client will be lighthearted, kind, caring, patient, and easy to get along with. They should take initiative while still respecting the client's independence, preferences, and established routines. A caregiver who is calm, observant, dependable, and comfortable supporting someone with visual impairment, hearing limitations, COPD, and fall-risk concerns would be an especially good fit. The client enjoys attending car shows with family and loves horses, so a caregiver who can engage in pleasant conversation around these interests and support enjoyable outings would be a plus.
