Mileage reimbursement provided for approved work-related transportation Job Overview Port City Disabilities Services is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide transportation and in-home support to individuals with developmental disabilities. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working one-on-one with individuals, is dependable, and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve. Primary Responsibilities Pick up two clients from our Day Habilitation program in Port Allen during afternoon hours. Safely transport clients from Day Hab to their home. Provide in-home support following transportation. Assist clients with activities of daily living and personal routines as needed. Encourage independence and participation in appropriate activities. Provide supervision and ensure client safety at all times. Assist with meal preparation and household routines as appropriate. Provide medication reminders/monitoring according to the individual's approved plan and agency procedures. Support clients with community activities and appointments when authorized. Maintain accurate daily documentation of services provided. Communicate appropriately with families, supervisors, and agency staff regarding client needs or changes. Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA and agency policies. Provide respectful, person-centered support at all times. Mileage Reimbursement Mileage reimbursement is provided for approved work-related transportation. Employees are reimbursed for eligible mileage incurred while providing authorized services and transporting clients as part of their job duties. Requirements Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Clean and dependable driving record. Ability to safely transport two clients. Reliable and punctual. Ability to work primarily afternoon and early evening hours. Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while following the client's plan of care and agency requirements. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred; training may be provided as required. Must successfully complete required agency screenings, training, and background checks.
