3:00 PM•11:00 PM About the Position We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Residential Counselor / Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide person-centered support to individuals living in a residential program in Haverhill, Massachusetts . The Residential Counselor supports individuals with daily living skills, independent living, community integration, social inclusion, self-advocacy, employment and volunteer opportunities, behavioral support, medication administration, and personal development . This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping people with disabilities live meaningful, independent, and fulfilling lives. You will play an important role in creating a safe, respectful, inclusive, and supportive home environment while helping individuals achieve their personal goals and participate fully in their communities. Key ResponsibilitiesDirect Support & Independent Living Provide individualized and group support to individuals in a residential setting. Teach and reinforce activities of daily living (ADLs) and independent living skills. Support individuals with personal care, meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, household chores, money management, scheduling appointments, and other daily activities. Encourage individuals to make informed choices and develop greater independence and self-advocacy skills. Support individuals in identifying and pursuing their personal goals and vision for a meaningful life. Provide hands-on assistance as needed to implement individual support plans. Community Integration & Social Inclusion Help individuals become fully integrated and actively engaged in their communities. Support participation in recreational, social, educational, volunteer, and community-based activities. Assist individuals in accessing community resources, public services, and other available supports. Help individuals develop and maintain friendships, relationships, and meaningful community connections. Support individuals in obtaining, maintaining, and growing in employment, volunteer, and other community engagement opportunities. Promote social inclusion, emotional well-being, dignity, choice, and independence. Behavioral & Person-Centered Support Implement and document individualized support plans, ISP/PSTPs , treatment plans, and clinical programs. Provide rehabilitative and behavioral support and monitor individual progress. Collect behavioral and academic data and complete accurate progress documentation. Assess and report changes in an individual's physical or emotional condition to the appropriate supervisor. Promote positive behavior, self-determination, dignity, and individual rights. Serve as a human rights advocate and follow all required reporting procedures. Medication & Health Support Procure, store, administer, document, and dispose of medications in accordance with MAP requirements , applicable regulations, funding-source requirements, and company policies. Provide First Aid and appropriate physical intervention during behavioral or medical emergencies as trained. Communicate effectively with program nurses, case managers, Visiting Nurses Association personnel, families, and other members of the individual's support team. Follow universal precautions, exposure control procedures, and safe work practices. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate communication logs, progress notes, incident reports, activity schedules, community membership logs, and other required records. Document individual activities, services, incidents, progress, and support provided. Maintain accurate records of individual funds when required. Participate in required staff meetings, training programs, and professional development. Follow all company, state, federal, funding-source, health and safety, and regulatory requirements. Maintain a safe, secure, clean, and welcoming residential environment. Assist with household maintenance, housekeeping, trash removal, snow shoveling, and other duties necessary to maintain a safe home. Provide transportation to individuals as needed and permitted. Provide shift coverage at other residential programs when assigned by the supervisor. Perform other related duties as assigned.
