Adult female with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) Position Summary Omega Home Care, Inc. is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and patient Direct Support Professional to provide person-centered support to an adult female with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The DSP will help the individual complete her evening routine, strengthen daily living skills, communicate her wants and needs, and remain safe and comfortable in her home and community. The individual uses an assistive-technology communication device. The DSP must consistently encourage and assist her with using the device to make choices, express preferences, communicate needs, and participate in decisions about her daily life. Essential Responsibilities Provide respectful, person-centered support according to the individual's Person-Centered Plan and Staff Implementation Plan. Assist with bathing, showering, toileting, grooming, oral care, dressing, skin care, hair care, and other personal-hygiene needs. Protect the individual's privacy, dignity, comfort, and personal preferences during all personal-care activities. Encourage the individual to complete as much of each hygiene task as independently as possible. Follow the individual's established evening routine. Assist with meal preparation, healthy food choices, dining, and kitchen cleanup as needed. Support light housekeeping, laundry, organization, and preparation of clothing and personal items. Assist the individual with safely using her assistive-technology device to communicate wants, needs, choices, discomfort, emotions, and preferences. Keep the communication device charged, clean, accessible, and available throughout the shift. Use appropriate prompts, visual supports, demonstrations, and positive reinforcement. Support meaningful recreational and community activities based on the individual's interests and goals. Observe and report changes in health, behavior, mood, skin condition, mobility, communication, or daily functioning. Follow health and safety plans, behavior-support strategies, emergency procedures, and agency policies. Complete accurate service documentation and progress notes before the end of each shift. Immediately report incidents, injuries, suspected abuse or neglect, and other health or safety concerns. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and Maryland DDA requirements. Communicate professionally with the individual, family, supervisor, and other members of the support team. Perform other individual-specific duties identified in the approved service plan.
