Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in their daily activities and promoting their independence. Your work will be vital in enhancing the quality of life for those you support, ensuring they receive the care and attention they need in a safe and nurturing environment. Duties

• Provide direct care to an individual with autism
• Perform personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, medical and behavioral monitoring, and health care related tasks.
• Create a learning environment- reading, writing, spelling and more, to continually engage client's interests
• Foster positive relationships between staff and individual served.
• Ensure safety and maintaining a safe environment.
• Monitor behavior and controlling situations safely and appropriately while following behavior plan
• Remind and assist client with self-administration of medications (with proper training and certification).
• Encourage self-help activities and work toward independence in daily living.
• Perform home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and cleaning with client.
• Plan meals, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, and clean-up.
• Accompany and safely transport client to scheduled appointments, errands, events, etc.
• Other duties as assigned. Requirements
• Ability to work in a home-like setting
• Communication skills (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the household
• Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time and any sports client wants to partake in
• Creativity in activities and events to keep client active physically and socially
• Ability to manage behavioral challenges in a calm and safe manner
• Be clean, organized, and tidy when working in a shared space and clients home

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
