We are seeking a reliable, patient, and highly motivated Direct Support Professional to provide 1:1 support for a young woman with developmental disabilities who lives with her family in Woodbine, Maryland. This position is self-directed through the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) and utilizes Fello Fiscal Management Services (FMS) . She requires full physical assistance due to being wheelchair dependent and benefits from staff who are patient, consistent, calm, and proactive. She thrives with predictable routines, clear expectations, consistency, and compassionate support. She is at her best when her days are structured, expectations are clear, and she is supported by kind, patient, and dependable people. Consistency is essential to her success, and she develops strong relationships with staff who are reliable, encouraging, and committed to helping her feel safe, understood, and engaged. She also experiences frequent behavioral episodes that may include aggression, refusal of care, screaming, grabbing, and other challenging behaviors. Successful staff recognize early signs of escalation, remain composed, follow established behavior support strategies, and prioritize safety while preserving dignity and respect. Staff with experience in behavior management would be ideal, but is not required. The participant has a wonderful behavior special and experienced team that will provided the training and guidance needed. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, remains calm under pressure, and understands that behavior is communication. Primary Responsibilities Assist with all activities of daily living, including dressing, toileting, bathing, grooming, feeding, and hygiene. Safely assist with wheelchair mobility, positioning, and transfers. Administer medications according to Maryland CMT standards. Support communication using visual supports, communication cards, and other adaptive communication methods. Implement individualized behavior support strategies using positive behavioral approaches. Transport and accompany the individual to appointments and community activities. Promote participation in recreational, therapeutic, volunteer, and community-based activities. Complete accurate daily documentation. Communicate professionally with family members and the interdisciplinary support team. Maintain a structured, positive, and person-centered environment.
