Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Awake/Sleep Overnight Direct Support Professional along with a energetic 3pm - 11pm(DSP). In this vital role, you will ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of residents while fostering a positive and respectful environment. Your commitment will help individuals with disabilities, seniors, or those in long-term care settings experience a secure and nurturing atmosphere throughout the night. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while working in a dynamic and supportive team environment. Responsibilities Monitor residents' safety and well-being throughout the overnight shift, responding promptly to any emergencies or needs. Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, and mobility support. Conduct regular vital signs checks and observe for any changes in health status, reporting findings to nursing staff as needed. Provide medication reminders and assistance in accordance with care plans, ensuring accurate documentation. Manage behavioral challenges with patience and effective de-escalation techniques, especially for individuals with dementia or cognitive disabilities. Maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and meal preparation. Document all resident interactions, incidents, and observations clearly using electronic medical record (EMR) systems or paper logs. Skills Proven experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or residential care homes with seniors or individuals with disabilities. Familiarity with vital signs measurement, medication administration. Excellent communication skills for engaging effectively with residents, families, and team members. Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments in home & community care settings. Ability to operate standard passenger cars for transportation needs when necessary. Knowledge of behavior management strategies tailored for residents experiencing behavioral challenges related to dementia or other cognitive disabilities.
